Nook pods made available for free to NHS and Healthcare Premises
A place to rest, work or collaborate for busy staff and worried visitors during the coronavirus outbreak
Bristol-based Furniture design business Do Company is offering to loan its comforting semi-private Nook pods free of charge to any healthcare sector premises in the UK in a bid to provide staff and visitors with a place to recharge and coordinate in comfort during the coronavirus outbreak.
Nook pods are specifically designed to create a sense of calm and wellbeing through their intimate shape and clever acoustics and are typically used as withdrawal booths for work and meeting in open-plan offices or at large conferences and events.
The company has up to 15 pods available due to cancelled events – and wants to make these available immediately to help in hospitals throughout the UK. They will be delivered with the help of transport partner PlusCrates Ltd who have also offered their services free of charge in a bid to help the UK through this challenging situation for all.
Once in situ, heavy-duty lockable castors on the bottom of each pod mean that they can be easily wheeled to wherever is most useful, locked in place and plugged in. These Nooks include mains power points, USB and wireless charging pads and controllable lighting.
David O’Coimin – CEO of Do Company – comments: “The very origins of Nook centre on wellbeing – we designed Nooks to be calming and serene for introverts and folks on the spectrum in the UK workforce. Right now, the NHS and other medical staff are being rushed off their feet, and we just wanted to offer any help we could.
“Our pods can transform a hospital corridor or an open area to provide mentally reassuring shelters in which to sit, rest, recharge, consult – to grab a mindful five minutes amongst the hustle of the frontline. We want these staff to know they are valued and that they have the respect and support of the nation.”
Each Nook will be supplied fully built, ready to roll in, measuring 200cm wide x 92cm deep x 196cm tall.
