How Nook pods create call-ready space when meeting rooms can't

Let's face it.

Modern offices weren't built for today's hybrid reality.

With return-to-office mandates pushing midweek attendance up, meeting rooms are becoming more and more scarce. Leaving employees to scramble for anywhere private enough (or not) to take a call.

That could be corridors, stairwells or in the canteen.

For our client, a fast-growing engineering and tech firms this wasn't just frustrating,  it was a productivity bottleneck. That's when Nook became essential.

"The Nooks really work incredibly well for us, and I couldn't imagine the office without them."

Tech firm senior employee feedback.

The problem: Not enough spaces for calls and meetings

Like most workplaces, this engineering and tech company faced constant pressure for meeting-room availability.

Rooms were booked for hours but used for minutes, leaving teams without space for quick calls or focused work.

"No company ever has enough meeting rooms..."

Tech firm senior employee feedback.

Industry data backs this up.

43% of employees have cancelled meetings because no room was available, and 65% end up using meeting rooms for solo focus work because quiet space doesn't exist elsewhere.

Meanwhile, fewer than 15% of small rooms are properly video-enabled despite 98% of meetings including at least one remote participant.

After experiencing these issues, our client introduced Nook Solo and Huddle pods to solve the problem.

Offering comfortable, private, video-ready spaces for impromptu calls without tying up a full meeting room for a five-minute conversation.

Flexible space that moves with the business

As teams expand, projects shift, this company realised that office layouts need to keep up. They needed furniture that could be repositioned as requirements changed, without the disruption or cost of a permanent fit-out.

"The Nooks are ideal as they're lightweight and we can move them around as the needs of the business change."

Tech firm senior employee feedback.

That flexibility has allowed them to adapt their workspace as it grows. While continuing to provide practical spaces for calls, meetings, and collaboration, exactly when and where it's needed.

People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. I care about how work, learning and event spaces can help us be better for each other, bring our whole selves to bear and build back better from the anxiety inducing, rapidly changing circumstances of this decade. I focus on Inclusivity, improving work/life balance, knowledge sharing, powerful partnerships and being a good ancestor to the future. I believe that design for the extreme benefits the mean.
